On June 11, 2013 the governor of Nevada signed into law a bill (SB165) that provides for the use of tax credits to subsidize the production of films and television programs in the state. The bill authorizes a producer that produces a film, television or other media production in the state to apply, on or before December 31, 2017, to the Office of Economic Development for a certificate of transferable tax credits. Provided that the production is found to be in the economic interest of the state, and at least 60 percent of the total qualified expenditures and production costs for the production will be incurred in Nevada.
