On July 17, 2012, the Government of Argentina ordered through Decree 1187/2012 that public employees' salaries should be channeled through accounts created at the state owned Banco de la Nación Argentina.
This measure applies to all government entities: local and central government, state owned enterprises as well as all enterprises and trust funds with majority of state ownership. The decree grants the Banco de la Nación Argentina exclusive access to initial deposits and other banking services.
