Import quota

On 22 May 2015, South African Revenue Service (SARS) published Notice R. 426 in the Official Gazette introducing a temporary tariff exemption on chilled/forzen fish and prepared fish under the subheadings HS 0304 and HS 1604, resprectively.

The so called "temporary rebate" relies on a specific permit by the Director-General of Agriculture, Forestry and Fishers who defines time and quantities.

The measure took effect on 22 May 2015 and applies to the Southern African Customs Union (SACU).
