In Federal Register notices published on February 18, 2015 (Vol. 80, No. 32) and on August 27, 2015 (Vol. 80 No. 166) the Federal Transit Administration announced that, in response to Buy America waiver requests from the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR), it had waived its Buy America requirements for two sets of items. One of these waivers concerned Schwihag roller assemblies, Schwihag plates, ZU1-60 steel switch point rail sections, and movable point frogs. The other concerned movable point frog component of one track turnout that LIRR needs for Stage 1.1 of its Jamaica Station Capacity Improvements Project, Phase I. The items in question were expected to be sourced in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland.
