Export ban

The government in August 2009 temporarily lifted the ban on the export of raw hides and skins to compensate for the declining revenue from the export of livestock. The ban was imposed in 2005 but the global crisis has led to low prices and stocks have piled up. The permanent secretary in the ministry of trade and industry said the ban might be re-introduced after the crisis is over to encourage value addition.

The date used stem from 2004, as the there was an export ban form 2005-2009. Nevertheless, no single trading partner has more than the GTA minimum threshold of USD 1 million worth of trade on the affected tariff line
