Import tariff quota

As of 24 March 2015, Mexico introduced tariff-rate quotas on the importation of baby products and toys. The law, which was published in the Official Federal Gazette of 23 March 2015, eliminates the import duty until 31 December 2017. The quota is based on a formula which defines the maximum import value for each importer depending on a function including past domestic sales performance and a general reference value. The general reference values for the quotas are USD 45 million for 2015, USD 40 million for 2016, and USD 35 million for 2017.

Update
On 26 December 2017, the Mexican Secretariat of Economy adopted an Agreement extending the temporary elimination of import tariffs on certain toys and baby products for a certain quota. The general reference values for the quotas are USD 45 million for 2018, USD 40 million for 2019, and USD 35 million for 2020.
