On July 14th, 2015, the Indonesian Safeguards Committee initiated a safeguard investigation on imports of glucose, not containing fructose or containing in the dry state less than 20% by weight of fructose, not including dextrose monohydrate pharmaceutical grade, dextrose monohydrate pyrogen free, maltodextrine, and dextrose anhydrous.
The products subject to investigation are classified under the following HS code: 1702.3010.
This follows the application lodged on June 19th, 2015 by PT. Sorini Agro Asia Corporindo Tbk.
According to the UN Comtrade Database, in 2013 (no data available yet for 2014) the following countries exported goods classified under HS code subheading 1702.30 to Indonesia with a trade value over the GTA threshold of USD 1 million: China (USD 44.88 million), France (USD 11.54 million) and Thailand (USD 4.05 million).
On June 27th, 2016, the Indonesian Trade Ministry announced that its Safeguards Committee had terminated the investigation, as it could not prove that the threat of injury to the domestic industry was caused by the surge in imports. The investigation was terminated on 13 June 2016.
