NUMBER OF INTERVENTIONS
Camex, 30 April 2015, press release on Camex Resolution no. 30/2015:
Camex resolution no. 30 of 29 April 2015, published in Official Gazette of 30 April 2015, pp. 41-49: http://pesquisa.in.gov.br/imprensa/jsp/visualiza/index.jsp?data=30/04/2015&jornal=1&pagina=41&totalArquivos=240
On 29 April 2015, the Brazilian Foreign Trade Council (Camex) issued Resolution no. 30 decreasing the import tariff on 177 tariff codes related to capital goods from 14% to 2%. For 158 codes the reduced tariff is new, while for the remaining 19 it was extended. The measure took effect on 30 April 2015 lasts until 31 December 2016.
The tariffs were reduced under Brazil's ex-tarifário scheme which allows for a temporary customs duty exception to the Mercosur Common External Tariff on capital and IT goods. Such an exception can be invoked in case the good in question has no domestically produced equivalent. The goal of this policy is to restructure Brazil's industrial park and infrastructure services.
The measure was introduced in conjunction with Camex Resolution no. 29/2015 which reduces the tariff on IT-goods (see measure no. 9399 under Related Measures).
