Import tariff

On 31 December 2009, vide Notification No. 149/2009 - Customs, the Government of India notified an exemption, applicable to imports from Pakistan and Sri Lanka only, whereby any levy of customs duty on 248 listed product lines was capped at a maximum of 8%.
These exemptions are by way of amendment to Notification No. 68/2006, dated 30 June 2006, which contails a total of 254 product lines. The Notification, as amended, provides for a nil rate of customs duty on imports from Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal and Maldives as well.
