Export quota

On 26 December 2008, the Ministry of Commerce issued Notice No. 139 of 2008, introducing the first batch export quota on rare earths for 2009. Based on the notice, the overall quota on rare earths has been increased to 10'543 tons.
The notice does not destinguish between light and heavy rare earths. There are in total 20 Chinese companies qualified for the rare earth export in 2009.
