On 2 December 2013, the Government of India vide Notification No. 53 (RE-2013) / 2009-2014, imposed a minimum import price condition on the import of cashew kernel, brokens and whole.
Cashew kernels (brokens) have a minimum import price of USD 5 (Rupees 288) per kg, and Cashew kernel (whole) will have a minimum import price of USD 6.5 (Rupees 400) per kg.
According to UN Comtrade, bilateral trade on these tariff lines, in the year prior to the imposition of the measure, (2012), exceeded USD 1 million for only 1 trading partner.
