On 10 December 2014, Mexico issued a Decree increasing the import duty on rice from 0% and 7% to 9% and 20% depending on the type of rice. Affected products are classified under tariff subheadings 1006.10.01, 1006.20.01, 1006.30.01, 1006.30.99 and 1006.40.01.
The tariffs took effect on 10 January 2015 and do not affect countries maintaining free trade agreements with Mexico (e.g., the USA).
On 10 December 2014, Mexico issued a Decree changing various import tariffs.
Tariff exemptions:
The tariffs took effect on 11 December 2014 for HS 4011.40 and 10 February 2015 for HS 4013.90.
Countries with which Mexico has free trade agreements are not affected by the changes, e.g., the USA.
The Decree issued by Mexico on 10 December 2014, also set import tariff quotas on pork.
