On 18 December 2014, the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES) announced to finance the sugarcane ethanol producer Cerradinho Bioenergia S.A. The loan includes the condition to source capital goods from Brazil.

Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES) announced to finance the sugarcane ethanol producer Cerradinho Bioenergia S.A. with 138.8 million real (USD 46.22 million). The sum will be invested in research and development as well as capital goods of national production (including sugarcane cleaning and peeling machines as well as engines for electricity). The measure is considered to be discriminatory since the Brazilian Development Bank provides credits with below-market interest rates only to legal persons (private or public) based in Brazil.
