Anti-dumping

On May 5th, 2015, the Commissioner of the Australian Anti-Dumping Commission initiated an anti-circumvention investigation on imports of flat rolled products of iron and non-alloy steel (of a width less than 600mm and equal to or greater than 600mm), plated or coated with zinc, from Chinese Taipei and South Korea (Anti-dumping Notice No. 2015/55, 05.05.2015).
This investigation follows suspicion that the definitive anti-dumping duty imposed on imports of flat rolled iron or steel products (containing alloys),of a width less than 600mm and equal to or greater than 600mm, plated or coated with zinc, from Chinese Taipei and South Korea might be circumvented (see measure 3939 as well as Anti-Dumping Notice No. 2013/66 dated 05.08.2013).
The products subject to investigation are classified under the following HS codes: 7225.9200 and 7226.9900. The complaint was lodged on April 1st, 2015 by BlueScope Steel Limited.
On August 24th, 2015, the Australian Anti-Dumping Commission extended the time granted to issue the Statement of Essential Facts (Anti-Dumping Notice No. 2015/103, 24.08.2015).

On 18 March 2016, the Australian Anti-Dumping Commission issued the Final Report (Final Report No. 290, 298). It came to the conclusion that the alleged circumvention activity has occurred and thus recommended that imports from from Chinese Taipei and South Korea to include the slightly modified products specified. On 18 March 2016, the Australian authorities issued Notice No. 2016/23 implementing this recommendation.
