On 30 May 2015, the European Commission announced the initiation of an anti-dumping investigation on imports of aspartame, as well as aspartame contained in preparations and/or mixtures comprising also other sweeteners and/or water, from China (Notice No 2015/C 177/07). The products subject to investigation are classified under the following HS codes: ex 2924.2998, ex 2106.9092, ex 2106.9098, ex 3824.9092 and ex 3824.9093.
The complaint was lodged on April 16th, 2015 by Ajinomoto Sweeteners Europe SAS, the sole EU producer of the subject good.
On 26 February 2016, the European Commission imposed a provisional anti-dumping duty on imports of the above-mentioned products originating in China (Commission Regulation (EU) No 2016/262). The rate of this duty is between 55.4% and 59.4% of the net free-at-Union-frontier price depending on the company. The duty will apply for a period of six months.
On 30 July 2016, the European authorities imposed a definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of above product from China (Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No2016/1247). The amount of duty imposed on imports from China is between 55.4%and 59.4%depending on the company.
