In June 2009, the government of Brazil announced a change in import duties.

On June 5th, 2009, the Brazilian government announced tariff increases on the ad-valorem import duty for 6 selected iron and steel products at the 8 digit level of the Mercosur Common Nomenclature (NCM) tariff code.
The product codes and their respective tariff increases are:
7208.27.90, from 0 to 12%
7208.38.90, from 0 to 12%
7208.39.90, from 0 to 12%
7208.52.00, from 0 to 12%
7209.16.00, from 0 to 12%
7209.17.00, from 0 to 12%
7228.30.00, from 0 to 14%
It is important to note that in the case of these products, they were on the list of exceptions of the Common External Tariff of Mercosur, and now are back to its original rate.
Update
On 25 October 2018, the Brazilian Foreign Trade Council has adopted Resolution 82 revoking 124 resolutions including this one.
