Export tax

On 5 May 2015, according to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Ressources, the Indonesian president signed a regulation introducing a fixed export levy on crude palm oil (hereinafter: CPO) and palm oil products. The levy on CPO shall amount to 50 USD/tonne, whereas the fee for palm oil product shipments shall be 30 USD/tonne.
Unlike the usual export taxes (cf. Related Measures), these fees will thus not depend on the market prices and will be used to fund the existing subsidies on biodiesel (cf. recent subsidy increase in Related Measures), as palm oil producers have suffered from the low international market prices.
The regulation shall come into force on 1 July 2015. However, on 14 July 2015, media reports quoted government officials saying the levy had not yet been implemented. It was planned to be effectively applied starting 16 July 2015.
Due to the unavailability of data for 2014 in the UN Comtrade database, the list of affected trading partners is based on values for 2013.
