Import tariff quota

For this matter, Brazil had to exclude one good from the list which was Simazine (NCM 2933.69.14), a herbicide, whose tariff was raised from 2% back to its Mercosur Common External Tariff of 12%.

Import tariff quota

The duty was reduced from 4% to 0% for a quota of 80.000 tons, starting 1 December 2014 until 29 May 2015. The good was included in the List of Exceptions to the Common External Tariff (LETEC) of Mercosur which is a mechanism that allows member states of Mercosur to apply customs duties that are lower or higher than otherwise listed in the Mercosur Common External Tariff schedule. However, the tariffs shall not surpass the ceilings given by the WTO. Decision CMC no. 58/10 gives Brazil the right to maintain a list of 100 such tariff codes based on the Mercosur Common Nomencalture (NCM) until 31 December 2015.
