On March 20, 2015, the Secretary for Foreign Trade of the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade decided to initiate an anti-dumping investigation on imports of unframed glass mirrors from China and Mexico (Circular No. 17, 20.03.2015). The products subject to investigation are classified under the following HS code: 7009.9100. The complaint was lodged on January 31, 2015 by the Brazilian Technical Association of Glass Automatic Industries (Associação Técnica Brasileira das Indústrias Automáticas de Vidros). The investigation started on the day of the publication of the circular in the Federal Official Gazette of Brazil, i.e. on March 23, 2015.
On July 17th, 2015, the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade made a preliminary determination of dumping against imports of unframed glass mirrors from China and Mexico without imposing a provisional measure (Circular No. 47, 17.07.2015). The investigation continues until the final determination. Circular No. 47 was published in the Federal Official Gazette of Brazil on July 20th, 2015.
On 19 February 2016, the Brazilian authorities imposed a definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of unframed glass mirrors originating in China and Mexico for a five-year period (Resolution No. 10 of 18 February 2016). The amount of duty imposed is USD 427.43, 415.32, 395.47 or 388.73 per tonne depending on the exporting producer.
On 19 February 2021, the Brazilian authorities initiated a sunset review of the definitive duty imposed on imports of the subject good from China and Mexico. This follows the application lodged by Associação Técnica Brasileira das Indústrias Automáticas de Vidro. The duty will remain in force for the duration of the review.
