Tax or social insurance relief
In 2009 state and local governments in Michigan provided incentives to battery manufacturer Johnson Controls-Saft Advanced Power Solutions. The package included: $100 million in state battery tax credits and $68.5 million in MEGA and other tax credits. The facility also received Renaissance Zone subsidies, the value of which is not available.
The GTA includes state guarantees and other financial incentives thatare likely to affect the restructuring and performance of firms facinginternational competition, whether from imports, in export markets, andfrom foreign subsidiaries.
