Tax or social insurance relief

In 2009 state and local governments in Ohio provided a package of incentives to Wacker Chemie for a polycrystalline silicon plant. The $210.5 million subsidy package included $83 million from the state in job tax credits, sales tax exemptions and infrastructure grants. On the local level, the company received property tax abatements worth $127.5 million over 20 years. Wackie Chemie is a company headquartered in Germany.
 
The GTA includes state guarantees and other financial incentives thatare likely to affect the restructuring and performance of firms facinginternational competition, whether from imports, in export markets, andfrom foreign subsidiaries.
