Tax or social insurance relief

In 2009 state and local government agencies provided an incentives package to Yahoo, including an estimated $181 million sales tax exemption on construction material and equipment purchases; a 10-year local property tax abatement worth about $19 million; and $58 million in electricity discounts from the New York State Power Authority.
The GTA includes state guarantees and other financial incentives thatare likely to affect the restructuring and performance of firms facinginternational competition, whether from imports, in export markets, andfrom foreign subsidiaries.
