Import tariff

On 12 June 2009, the South African Revenue Service (SARS) exempted the import duty for goods under Chapters 51, 54, 56, 59, and 60 which are used for the manufacture of clothing. Previously, the duty was at 5 percent.
 
The GTA retrieves its data on affected trading partners from UN Comtrade. However, for the year 2008, the database was not available to provide the affected trading partners for Botswana, Swaziland, and Lesotho.
