NUMBER OF INTERVENTIONS
EC regulation 360/2012
Commission Regulation (EU) 2018/1923 of 7 December 2018, issued on 10 December 2018: https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/?uri=CELEX:32018R1923
On 25 April 2012, the European Commission announced regulation 360/2012 raising the de minimis amount for state aid in services of general economic interest (SGEI) from EUR 200'000 to EUR 500'000.
As stated in the 2013 WTO Trade Policy Review on the EU, SGEI "are economic activities that public authorities identify as being of particular importance to citizens and that would not be supplied (or would be supplied under different conditions) if there were no public intervention".
The regulation came into force on 29 April 2012.
With the increased de minimis amount, the number of state aids by the Member States that do not need to be notified to the Commission is likely to increase.
On 10 December 2018, the European Commission extended the period of imposition of regulation 360/2012 to 31 December 2020.
