Export licensing requirement

On 18 July 2012, the Indonesian Ministry of Trade announced regulation 45/M-DAG/PER/7/2012 requiring the exports of metal waste and scrap (complete list of products can be found in the appendix of the regulation) to obtain an approval letter from the Ministry first. The letter will be issued within 5 working days (art. 4(2)) by the Directorate General for Industrial and Mining Products at the Ministry and shall be valid for 6 months (art. 5). After the expiration, the exporter may ask for a renewal after submitting a realisation report (art. 6).
Furthermore, certain products originating from the Batam Island may only be directly exported from that island (art. 2(2 & 3)).
The regulation came into force on 19 July 2012.
It was scrapped and replaced by regulation 32/2017 on 29 June 2017 (see related state acts). However, as not all export restrictions in this regulation were lifted, this intervention continues to be classified as implemented.
