Safeguard

On December 5, 2014, the Turkish authorities initiated a safeguard investigation on imports of transmission apparatus incorporating reception apparatus (cellular) portable telephone.
The products subject to investigation are classified under the following HS code: 8517.1200.
This follows the application lodged by Vestel Elektronik Sanayi Ve Ticaret A.S.
According to the UN Comtrade Database, in 2013 the following countries exported goods classified under HS code subheading 8517.12 to Turkey with a trade value over the GTA threshold of USD 1 million: China (USD 1,785.48 million), Vietnam (USD 570.80 million), South Korea (USD 148.23 million), India (USD 101.39 million), Mexico (USD 22.24 million), the United Kingdom (USD 2.81 million) and Hungary (USD 1.98 million).
 
On 4 March 2016, the Turkish authorities terminated the above investigation without the imposition of duties (Communiqué No. 2016/1).
