The president of the Republic of Colombia on 2 March 2013 increased the volume subsidies paid to domestic coffee growers.
According to the new rules, coffee growers with more thanĀ 20 hectares of capacity will receive 95,000 Colombian Pesos (USD 30.73) per grain load, up from 60,000 Colombian Pesos (USD 19.41). Furthermore, coffee growers with acapacity of less than 20 hectars will receive 115,000 Colombian Pesos (USD 37.20) instead of the former 60,000 Colombian Pesos (USD 19.41) per grain load.
The total budget dedicated by the government for these volume subsidy increases ammounts to 180,000,000,000 Colombian Pesos (USD 58,228,200).
