Effective 20 September 2012, the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade through Circular No. 23/2012/TT-BCT required traders to acquire an import license for each lot of steel products imported. Such licenses issued will be valid for 30 days from issue.
This requirement does not apply to steel temporarily imported for re-export, non-commercial imports, and steel imported directly for production or processing.
The measure was withdrawn on 16 August 2014.
