Safeguard

On May 22, 2014, the Indian Directorate General of safeguards initiated a safeguard investigation on imports of flexible slabstock polyol of molecular weight 3000 to 4000.
The product subject to investigation is classified under the following HS code: 3907.2010.
This follows the application lodged by M/s Manali Petrochemicals Ltd., the sole domestic producer of the subject good.
According to the UN Comtrade Database, in 2013 the following countries exported goods classified under HS code subheading 3907.20 to India with a trade value over USD 1 million: Singapore (USD 91.93 million), South Korea (USD 78.54 million), the Netherlands (USD 54.56 million), the United States of America (USD 40.43 million), China (USD 30.09 million), Germany (USD 12.13 million), Belgium (USD 10.88 million), Italy (USD 7.09 million), Thailand (USD 6.51 million), Japan (USD 5.75 million), Spain (USD 4.39 million), the United Arab Emirates (USD 3.44 million), Saudi Arabia (USD 2.30 million) and Australia (USD 2.11 million).
On January 13, 2015, the Indian Directorate General of safeguards decided to terminate the investigation without imposing any duty.
