In September 2014, the government of Tunisia initiated a new safeguard investigation. The safeguard investigation was terminated in July 2015 without the imposition of duties.

On September 30, 2014, the Tunisian Ministry of Trade and Crafts initiated a safeguard investigation on imports of medium density fibreboard (MDF).
The products subject to investigation are classified under the following HS codes: 4411.1410, 4411.1210 and 4411.1310.
This follows the application lodged by Les Grands Ateliers du Nord, the sole domestic producer of the subject goods.
According to the UN Comtrade Database, in 2013 the following countries exported goods classified under HS code subheadings 4411.12, 4411.13 and 4411.14 to Tunisia with a trade value over USD 1 million: Italy, Portugal, Spain, Romania, Austria and Slovenia.
On 30 July 2015, the Tunisian authorities terminated the safeguard investigation on imports of the subject good without the imposition of duties.
