On 2 June 2014, the Indonesian Ministry of Trade issued Decree 28/M-DAG/PER/6/2014 restricting the import licencing for steel alloy.
With the new decree, steel alloy importers will have to obtain a licence as Importer Manufacturer (IP) or Registered Importer (IT) from the Trade Ministry (art. 3(1) of Decree 28/M-DAG/PER/6/2014). Other restrictions include the obligation of verification or technical inspection in the country of origin (art. 16).
The regulation was introduced in order counteract the large stream of steel alloy imports which entered the country.

The new rules came into effect on the day of issuanceand will expire on 31 December 2016.
