Inception date: 15 Mar 2011 | Removal date: 21 Mar 2020

On September 15, 2009 Argentina issued a Resolution No. 296-2009 initiating an anti-dumping investigation concerning imports of hypodermic syringes originating in China.

On August 30 2010, the Government of Argentina announced the continuance of the dumping investigation on imports of certain types of hypodermic syringes from China. No provisionary measures were imposed (Resolution 61/2010).

On March 15, 2011, the Government of Argentina adopted anti-dumping duties against hypodermic syringes, with or without their needles from China. The measure consists of an anti-dumping margin of 17.67% for all Chinese enterprises.

The products subject to the anti-dumping duties are classified under the following tariff codes of the MERCOSUR Harmonized System: 9018.31.11 and 9018.31.19.
On 16 March 2016, the Argentinian authorities initiated a sunset review of the anti-dumping measure imposed on imports of above-mentioned products (Resolución 59/2016). This follows the request lodged by Productos Médicos Descartables S.A. The duty will remain in force for the duration of this investigation.

On 14 August 2017, the Argentinian authorities extended the antidumping duty imposed on imports of the subject good from China following the conclusion of the above sunset review. The rate of duty is 59% of the FOB value. The measure is in force for a period of five years.

On 21 March 2020, the Argentinian authorities temporarily suspended the definitive duty imposed on imports of hypodermic syringes originating in China. The suspension was introduced following the COVID-19 pandemic.
