On 3 October 2014, upon the advice of the International Trade Administration Commission of South Africa (ITAC), the South African Revenue Service (SARS) issued Notice R. 751, re-introducing import tariffs on uncoated paper and paperboard, of specified mass and dimensions, at 5 or 10% (HS 4802.56.20 and 4802.56.90, respectively). Since 1 January 2012, imports of the specified products had been free of duty (see 'Related measures'). Imports from EU, EFTA and SADC member states remain exempt from the duty.
The measure took effect on 3 October 2014 and applies to the Southern African Customs Union (SACU).
