Import quota

On 26 September 2014, Camex (the Brazilian Foreign Trade Chamber) issued Resolution No. 88, reducing the import taxes for products used for the production of dairy products and biofuels.
The import tax on caseins, milk proteins used in products such as processed cheese, will be lowered from 14% to 2%, for a maximum quota of 1,900 tonnes for 12 months.
The import tax on palm kernel oil which, in addition to biodiesel production, is also used in the manufacturing of cosmetics, soap and fine toilet soap, detergents, lubricants and in the chemical industry, will be lowered from 10% to 2%, for a maximum quota of 99,332 tonnes between 18 October this year and 16 April 2015.
