ANNOUNCEMENT 20 Dec 2011

On 20 December 2011, Brazil’s Secretary of Foreign Trade (Secex) issued Circular no. 49, amending a number of tariff line descriptions in order to improve the description texts and the product classification in general. The measure entered into effect on 13 October 2011.

Conversely, the new tariff line NCM 3911.90.27 was created for hexadimethrine chloride, resulting in a tariff reduction from 14% to 2%.

By consequence, certain tariff rates are amended as well. The tariff increases concern: NCM 2933.39.35: the herbicides imazapic and imazapyr have been moved from 2933.39.39 (“Other”, 2%) to this heading, with a rate of 14% NCM 3003.90.97 and 3004.90.97: Tariff line created for the medicine sevoflurane, with a duty of 14% (previously 8%) NCM 3823.13.00: The tariff on “tall oil” fatty acids increased from 2% to 14%
