NUMBER OF INTERVENTIONS
On 22 November 2010, the Central Bank of Sri Lanka decided to extend the foreign currency account facility to importers of gem and/or jewelry. This facility was earlier available only to direct and indirect exporters of these items.
The foreign currency account facility permits a non-chequable savings or fixed deposit account and allows certain domestic and international foreign currency transactions.
