Public procurement preference margin
In June, 2012 the City Council of Dallas, Texas passed an ordinance as permitted under state law (see related measure) that gives preferences to local businesses for competitively bid city contracts.
The city ordinance basically follows state statute by allowing a 3 percent preference for the purchase of goods over $500,000, a 5 percent preference for goods and general services under $500,000 and a 3 percent preference for construction services under $100,000.
