In a Federal Register notice published on June 8, 2012 the U.S. Department of Commerce renewed the existing anti-dumping order against imports of silicomanganese from Ukraine. The original order was imposed on September 17, 2001, with the renewed order thus exceeding the five-year 'sunset' standard that generally applies to trade-remedy measures under WTO agreements (i.e., article 21.3 of the Agreement on Subsidies and Countervailing Measures and article 11.3 of the Anti-dumping Agreement).
On November 2, 2018 the U.S. International Trade Commission determined that revoking the existing antidumping duty orders on imports of silicomanganese from China and Ukraine would be likely to lead to continuation or recurrence of material injury within a reasonably foreseeable time. As a result of the affirmative determinations, the existing antidumping duty orders on imports of this product from China and Ukraine will remain in place.
