In a Federal Register notice published on November 9, 2011 the U.S. Department of Commerce renewed the existing anti-dumping order against imports of certain artist canvas from China. The original order was imposed on June 1, 2006, with the renewed order thus exceeding the five-year 'sunset' standard that generally applies to trade-remedy measures under WTO agreements (i.e., article 21.3 of the Agreement on Subsidies and Countervailing Measures and article 11.3 of the Anti-dumping Agreement).
On February 22, 2017 the U.S. International Trade Commission determined that revoking the existing antidumping order on artist canvas from China would be likely to lead to continuation or recurrence of material injury within a reasonably foreseeable time. As a result of the Commission’s affirmative determinations, the existing antidumping order against imports of certain artist canvas from China will remain in place. The original order was imposed on June 1, 2006, with the renewed order thus exceeding the five-year “sunset” standard that generally applies to trade-remedy measures under WTO agreements (i.e., article 21.3 of the Agreement on Subsidies and Countervailing Measures and article 11.3 of the Antidumping Agreement).
