Anti-dumping

The US government has repeatedly renewed the anti-dumping duties first imposed in the late 1980s. The order on Japan dates from February 10, 1987; the orders on Brazil and Chinese Taipei date from December 17, 1986; and on China and Thailand from July 6, 1992. The renewed order thus exceed the five-year 'sunset' standard that generally applies to trade-remedy measures under WTO agreements (i.e., article 21.3 of the Agreement on Subsidies and Countervailing Measures and article 11.3 of the Anti-dumping Agreement).
