On 18 October 2010, Polish authorities decided to grant investment aid to the Zaklad Ceramiki Budowlanej w Chmielowie Tadeusz Rucki. The aid worth EUR 10.02 million (PLN 41.96 million) was used to implement a new production technology for clinker bricks in Chmielow, the Podkarpackie region.
The beneficiary is a producer of building ceramics owning a nearby open pit mine to extract the necessary resources. The company manufactures drawn and embossed tiles, roofing accessories and clinker products.
Most of the aid originated from EU's Operational Fund Innovative Economy and amounted to EUR 8.52 million (PLN 35.67 million), whereas the remaining 1.5 million were financed by Poland. The project cost around EUR 17.94 million and is due on 31 July 2011.
A state measure in the GTA database is assessed solely in terms of the extent to which its implementation affects the extent of discrimination against foreign commercial interests. On this metric, the state aid proposed here is discriminatory.
