Financial grant

On 20 December 2011, Polish authorities decided to grant aid to the ceramic tile producer Etex Building Materials Polska Sp. z o.o. (herafter: EBM). The aid worth EUR 13.9 million (PLN 58.2 million) was used to build a ceramic tile factory in Koscian, the Wielkopolskie region. The goods produced in this factory are potentially tradeable internationally.

The beneficiary company belongs to the Belgian-based Etex Group manufacturing and selling building materials.

Most of the aid originated from EU's Operational Fund Innovative Economy and amounted to EUR 11.81 million (PLN 49.47 million), whereas the remaining 2.08 million were financed by Poland. The project was due on 25 January 2013.

A state measure in the GTA database is assessed solely in terms of the extent to which its implementation affects the extent of discrimination against foreign commercial interests. On this metric, the state aid proposed here is discriminatory.
