Financial grant

On 7 April 2014, the EuropeanCommission granted upon request by the Polish government investment aid from the European RegionalDevelopment Fund (more precisely, the Operational Programme InnovativeEconomy) to the Pittsburgh Glass Works Poland Sp. z o.o. The investment worth EUR 57 million will be used to construct a productionplant for laminated glass components in Komorniki. The goods produced in this factory are potentially tradeable internationally.
 
The beneficiary is asubsidiary of the American company Pittsburgh Glass Works, LLC andspecializes in automotive glass manufacturing.
 
The aid received from EU'sFund will amount to EUR 12.35 million, whereas Poland will contributeanother 2.18 million. The decision by Polish authorities to grant theaid was taken already on 8 March 2012 and the project was due on 25 April 2013.
 
A state measure in the GTAdatabase is assessed solely in terms of the extent to which itsimplementation affects the extent of discrimination against foreigncommercial interests. On this metric, the state aid proposed here is discriminatory.
