Financial grant

On 14 September 2011, Polishauthorities granted investment aid to the Kronospan OSP Sp. z o.o. forthe construction of a production plant for oriented particle boards inStrzelce Opolskie, the Opolskie Region. Apparently, the R&D&I aid was granted based on the plant's innovative productionmethod.

The beneficiary company ispart of the Kronospan Group, mainly selling wood-based products, as wellas wood finishing products and raw materials such as resin andlaminates.

With the total costsamounting to EUR 102.8 Million, Poland will cover 99.49 million of which29.85 million will originate from the European Regional DevelopmentFund.

The project was initiated on 1 June 2012 and is due on 31 October 2014.

A state measure in the GTAdatabase is assessed solely in terms of the extent to which itsimplementation affects the extent of discrimination against foreigncommercial interests. In this case particle board is traded internationally and competition in the relevant markets in Poland and elsewhere may be affected. On this metric, the state aid proposed here is discriminatory.
