In July 2014, the government of the United States initiated a new anti-dumping investigation. In January 2015, provisional duties were imposed. In August 2015, a definitive duty was imposed. In February 2021, the definitive duty was extended for a new period following the conclusion of a sunset review initiated in July 2020.

Anti-dumping

On 21 July 2014, the International Trade Administration issued notice document No. 79 FR 42292 initiating an antidumping investigation on imports of certain passenger vehicle and light truck tyres from China. The products subject to investigation are classified under HS code subheadings 4011.10.10.10, 4011.10.10.20, 4011.10.10.30, 4011.10.10.40, 4011.10.10.50, 4011.10.10.60, 4011.10.10.70, 4011.10.50.00, 4011.20.10.05, 4011.20.50.10, 4011.99.45.00, 4011.99.85.00, 8708.70.45.45, 8708.70.45.60, 8708.70.60.30, 8708.70.60.45, and 8708.70.60.60. This investigation follows the application lodged on 3 June 2014 by United Steel, Paper and Forestry, Rubber, Manufacturing, Energy, Allied Industrial and Service Workers International Union. On the same day, an anti-subsidy investigation was initiated. 

On 27 January 2015, the United States imposed a provisional duty on imports of the subject good from China. The rate of duty is between 19.17% and 87.99%.

On 10 August 2015, the United States imposed a definitive duty on imports of certain passenger vehicle and light truck tyres from China. The rate of duty is between 14.35% and 87.99%.

On 1 July 2020, the Department of Commerce initiated a sunset review of the definitive antidumping duty on imports of the subject good from China. On the same day, a sunset review of the definitive countervailing duty on imports of the subject good from China was initiated.

On 19 February 2021, the International Trade Administration issued Notice Document No. 86 FR 10247 extending the definitive duty imposed on imports of the subject good from China for a new period of five years.
