Import ban

In the state of Vermont (which borders on Canada) the legislature enacted a bill (H799) that directs the commissioner of Forest, Parks and Recreation to consult with the Secretary of Agriculture to write rules that will ban importation of untreated firewood to protect the state from invasive bugs and plants. The governor signed the bill into law on April 24, 2014; it took effect on July 1, 2014.
