Anti-dumping

On May 28, 2010, the South African authorities initiated a sunset review of the anti-dumping duty imposed on imports of blankets from China and Turkey.
The products subject to investigation are classified under the following HS codes: 6301.4000 and 6301.9000.
On February 4, 2011, the South African authorities decided upon the continuation of the definitive anti-dumping duty imposed on imports of blankets from China and Turkey. The amount of the duty imposed on imports originating in China is 2,834c per kilogram (USD 2.73886 per kilogram at the exchange rate of May 19, 2014). The amount of the duty imposed on imports originating in Turkey is 691c per kilogram (USD 0.667797 per kilogram at the exchange rate of May 19, 2014), at the exception of the companies Ak-pa and Sekapa whose exports are subject to a duty of 0c per kilogram (USD 0 per kilogram) and 388c per kilogram (USD 0.374948 per kilogram at the exchange rate of May 19, 2014) respectively.
 
On 12 February 2016, the International Trade Administration Commission of South Africa announced that the anti-dumping duty on blankets of acrylic fibres has been terminated. The termination follows the expiry of the measure on 3 February 2016 due to no request to initiate a sunset review has been submitted to the Commission.
