FDI: Entry and ownership rule

On 12 June 2013 the Mexican Telecommunications Reform Decreeentered into force. Its purpose is to allow increased foreign investment in the telecom sector.
 
The new legislative act has set the threshold for foreign investments at 100 per cent in the area of telecommunications and satellite communication. Following this reform, Satélites Mexicanos (Satmex) was purchased by the French operator Eurotelsat.
