Import tariff

On 18 July 2011, Indonesia granted government borne import duties to materials used in the repair and maintenance of aircrafts.

"Government borne" means that the import duty will be refunded by the state. Even though the importer has to pay the regular duty upfront, the measure could also be regarded as a zero tariff for the importer.

This measure is aimed at increasing the value added of domestically performed repairs and maintenances by boosting the import of raw materials/intermediate goods rather than finished products. The measure is temporary and will expire on 31 December 2011.

The list of affected products is based on the federal supply classification, a translation into HS codes is not possible. The exact list can be found in the annex of the regulation
