In December 2013, the government of India initiated a new anti-dumping investigation and a definitive duty was imposed in March 2015. In July 2019, a sunset review was initiated and the definitive duty was extended for a new period in March 2020.

Anti-dumping

On December 20, 2013, the Indian Directorate General of anti-dumping & allied duties, Ministry of Commerce, initiated an anti-dumping investigation on imports of sheet glass from China. The products subject to investigation are classified under the following HS codes: 7004.2011 and 7004.2019. This follows the application lodged by M/s Bharat Glass Tube Limited, the sole domestic producer of the subject good.

On December 19, 2014, the Indian Directorate General of anti-dumping & allied duties, Ministry of Commerce, issued its final findings and recommended the imposition of a definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of the subject good originating in China.

On March 13, 2015, the Indian Ministry of Finance issued the Customs Notification imposing this definitive anti-dumping duty (Notification No. 07/2015-Customs (ADD), 13.03.2015). The amount of the duty is USD 63 per metric ton. This definitive duty is effective for a period of five years.

On 17 July 2019, the Indian authorities initiated a sunset review of the antidumping duty imposed on imports of sheet glass from China. This follows the application lodged by Emerge Glass India Pvt. Ltd. 

On 12 March 2020, the Indian authorities extended the definitive duty imposed on imports of sheet glass from China following the conclusion of a sunset review. The rate of duty remains at the same level. The duty is in force for a period of five years i.e. until 12 March 2025.
